Going Up Against CEO Meng

If Yang Ming didn’t butt in now, his status would also decline in the high society.

His eyes narrowed.

“If Madam Meng continues to be rude to my fiance, I may be forced to call up my lawyer. You do know that slander is a criminal offense.”

Forget about Yao Ran, he would not allow some woman to mock him.

This was ridiculous!

On the other side of the city, Director Meng was enjoying his time at home. He was in the middle of making his tea when he received his daughter’s message. Upon seeing it, he stopped everything that he was doing and grabbed a hold of his phone.

Finally, he called his daughter back.

Meng Ling picked up very quickly.

“Dad!”

Meng Ling quickly handed the phone over to President Yang. “My father wants to discuss it with you.”

He nodded. As soon as Meng Ling heard him, she immediately did as she’s been told. A loud voice echoed from the other end of the line. “President Yang, how has it been?”

Yang Ming knew that things may have gotten out of hand, and this wasn’t something that could easily blow over.

It was no longer a private battle between Madam Meng and Yao Ran, but a confrontation between the two families. If he wasn’t careful, he could trigger a conflict between the two sides.

“Long time no see, the last time we met was back at the Wang Family banquet, right?” he said with a smile.

Director Meng chuckled. “You have an incredible memory. I can’t help but ask—why has Director Yang come to the Yao Family banquet today? Has Director Yang not assign you to anything?”

He froze.

The man he had been referring to was none other than Yang Nian’s father, the real Director Yang. While he had the same title, many still regard him as the “little director”.

In reality, he didn’t have much power in the Yang Family.

He could only be considered “in power” in the research institute.

Yang Ming clenched his fists.

Despite being a part of a prominent family, he knew for a fact that he was still under the Meng Patriarch in terms of their achievements.

Yang Ming’s face suddenly darkened. “I naturally can’t be compared to your busy schedule. Besides, I’m just a small director,” he said casually. “I just don’t know why your wife has been slandering my fiance. Or do you plan on badgering all my family members like this?” His eyes flashed.

This was a warning for them as well.

“Of course not.” Director Meng laughed. “I think there has just been a misunderstanding. We’ve always been good friends with the Yang Family, so why would we do something like this without reason? As for the fiance you’ve been talking about, are you speaking of Yao Ran?”

“She may be taken something from the Meng Family, whether by accident or not. As long as she returns it to us, she would not have to face the consequences.”

Director Meng was naturally interested in the value of their data. If it had been successfully released, the Meng Family would be able to rise in the circle, and it would certainly improved their status.

Even then, it wouldn’t be good to offend the Yang Family because of this.

Yang Ming gazed at Yao Ran.

They wanted him to hand it over?

If he didn’t want the medicine in the first place, why would he even agree to this with Yao Ran?

Only after developing it themselves would their stock price begin to rise. Only then would be able to have more say in the family.

“You must be joking,” he said casually. “What would she steal?”

The Meng Family patriarch finally understood.

It was obvious that Director Yang wasn’t willing to hand it over. “Then there’s no need for me to beat around the bush. The researchers have already begun to copy the data that had been taken, and all of them have worked on this beforehand. Once this is over…”

“I hope you are ready to bear the consequences of your actions.”

His words were a direct threat.

Even if the data had been taken from them, if the Meng Family were still the first to replicate it, it wouldn’t matter if the Yang Family research was perfect. It would all be useless by then.
