Drug Him and Get Pregnant

Over at City A, Yao Ran was standing in a desolate corner of the banquet hall, anxiously pacing back and forth.

She had been so sure that she would be able to win Yang Ming over, which was the only reason why she had dared to attend today’s event. She thought that with him by her side, the Meng family wouldn’t dare to touch her.

Yao Ran had never imagined that things would turn out the way that they had.

Yang Ming was too much for her to handle, after all.

!!

He was still asking around about the second branch of the Yao family. He was obviously more interested in them. What made matters worse, was that he had already expressed his dissatisfaction with her.

As things stood, Yao Ran no longer felt secure that Yang Ming would protect her should the Meng family decide to hunt her down.

Unfortunately for her, it had been a while since the banquet had begun. News of her attendance must have reached the Meng family by now.

They might storm through the doors at any given minute, but she couldn’t afford to just up and leave.

Yao Ran’s heart was hammering inside her chest, her mind racing with jumbled thoughts. She was running out of options.

Unless…

Should she just tell the people here that she was feeling unwell and that she needed to retire and get some rest?

But she couldn’t possibly retreat now.

She might be able to leave the venue, but she was still a member of the Yao family. If the Meng family approached her parents, Yao Yuan might just hand her over.

This was what worried her the most.

Whether it was Yang Ming or her own family, Yao Ran had no guarantee that they would protect her. From what she knew of them, they might gladly surrender her for the sake of appearances.

While she had signed a contract with Yang Ming, he was a formidable businessman and had his own law firm to take care of legal obstacles. If he wanted to modify their agreement or cancel it altogether, she was powerless to stop him.

What should she do now?

Yao Ran was at a loss. In any case, she knew that she could no longer rely on the Yao family. No matter what happened, they would always protect the family’s general interests. They couldn’t care less whether she lived or died.

The only person she could cling to right now was Yang Ming. Her only problem was that she couldn’t think of any other way to get Yang Ming to protect her.

As it was, he had no one to back her up against the Meng family.

What should she do?

Yao Ran’s hands balled into fists as she struggled to calm her thundering heart. No ideas were coming to mind.

In the end, she closed her eyes and heaved a resigned sigh. “What’s done is done. If it boils down to it, I’ll just have to get pregnant with the child of the Yang family.”

That would be as good as any guarantee.

The Yang family would never deny a child born to the younger generation. Even if they didn’t favor Yao Ran, at the very least, they would shield her from the Meng family.

Yao Ran thought quickly and decided to drug Yang Ming’s wine.

She had coincidentally obtained a drug that not only served as an aphrodisiac, but also lowered a person’s inhibitions and muddled their sense of reason.

She had originally wanted to use it on Cheng Zhou, but the young man had been away on a business trip all this time. Yao Ran hadn’t been able to see him at all.

It should make no difference whether she used the drug on Cheng Zhou or Yang Ming.

As soon as she finalized her plans, Yao Ran heard a commotion from the hall entrance, as if someone had started an animated discussion.

What was going on now?

With a frown, Yao Ran curiously approached the source of all the hubbub.

It was Old Madam Yao’s birthday banquet. She didn’t want it to become more of a spectacle than it already was, or they would surely be mocked in the headlines tomorrow.

This kind of thing had happened to others in the past, and Yao Ran would often laugh at the people whose names were dragged on the news.

But now that she was on the other side of the table, she refused to let such a thing happen to her and her family.

When the guests saw her, they instinctively parted to make way for her. Even so, there were others who rushed over thoughtlessly, as if they were dying to watch the show unfolding up ahead.

Yao Ran’s brows were tightly knitted by the time she reached the center of the crowd.

And then, she started to hear snippets of conversation around her.

“Exactly what are these people doing here?”

“I don’t have a clue. They’re even armed. This is too scary. Did the Yao family offend someone powerful?”

“It’s strange, isn’t it? This is a birthday party. Did their enemies decide to crash the event?”

“This is really disappointing and very concerning!”

“I’m not sure which member of the Yao family caused this mess, but for them to bring their troubles to Old Madam Yao’s party is simply out of line!”
