Chapter 96

The weekly quizzes did not require different exam rooms. Students took the tests in their own classrooms, which were organized by the head teachers.

The quiz questions were not as many as the midterms or finals, just ordinary mini-tests.

Originally the quizzes were held during self-study periods, but since all the students in Yu Na's class had late self-study, she scheduled it for then.

The afternoon self-study period was the same as usual.

During the late self-study period, the classroom was quiet.

Yu Na paced around below the podium and eventually returned to the lectern.

From her vantage point on the podium, all the little movements of the students were in plain view.

Yu Na stood with her arms crossed and said something to make the students shudder: "I can see every little move you make."

"..."

When the exam finished, late self-study was almost over.

As Yu Na packed up her things, she glanced at the thick stack of English test papers and thought for a moment before deciding to take them home to grade.

After packing everything up, she hurried to the north school gate, hugging the pile of test papers.

As usual, Xiao Chen was waiting for her in his car by the north gate.

After getting into the passenger seat, he saw Yu Na holding a bunch of stuff and casually asked, "What are you carrying?"

"Test papers."

"Test papers?" Xiao Chen didn't understand. "Weekly quiz papers?"

"Mm-hmm."

"You have to grade them tonight?"

"No," Yu Na explained, "I want to grade them early so I can go over them with the students sooner."

Xiao Chen didn't respond, just looked at her silently.

At first Yu Na didn't notice anything wrong and muttered to herself, "I looked at the weekly quiz questions and analyzed some of the classic high school entrance exam question types from previous years. I found the quiz questions are quite representative, so I want to go over them with the students early on."

She chattered on and on but didn't get a response. Only then did Yu Na put the test papers on her lap and notice the quiet atmosphere in the car.

"...What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Xiao Chen ruffled her hair. "Just think you're not the same as before."

"Really?" Yu Na asked curiously. "How am I different?"

"More and more like a teacher."

Her eyes lit up as she waited expectantly for his praise. "Really, really?"

"Yeah," Xiao Chen's tone suddenly shifted. "About the same as my high school Chinese teacher, scary."

Yu Na: "..."

The car stopped at Huating One. Just as Yu Na was about to get out, Xiao Chen suddenly grabbed her arm. "Wait."

"Hmm?"

Xiao Chen gently rubbed her wrist. "Have you been very tired lately?"

"A little tired..." After saying this, Yu Na realized that recently, because of work, she hadn't spent much time with Xiao Chen.

She tentatively tried: "Are you angry I haven't been with you much lately?"

Xiao Chen asked back, "What do you think?"

"...Then," Yu Na hesitated a few seconds. "Why don't you come stay over at Huating One tomorrow night?"

Just as she finished speaking, Xiao Chen's phone lit up.

It was a WeChat message from Qiao Rui.

Xiao Chen lazily glanced at the WeChat message, and the happy expression on his face instantly gave him away.

Yu Na didn't get out of the car. "What is it?"

"Qiao Rui says he's going to live on campus."

"Huh? Really?"

Xiao Chen showed her the chat interface. It displayed the several WeChat messages Qiao Rui had just sent:

Qiao Rui: 【Bro, I've decided! I'm going to live on campus! 】

Qiao Rui: 【I'm going to study hard!!!】

Qiao Rui: 【You just stay with Teacher Yu comfortably 【mischievous smile emoji】】

Yu Na said, "...Why did he suddenly decide to live on campus? There's no conspiracy here, is there?"

"What conspiracy could a little brat have? He just feels bad for his brother," said Xiao Chen lazily. He casually put his phone away and moved closer to her to make a suggestion. "Shall we celebrate tonight?"

Yu Na curiously asked, "How do we celebrate?"

"You'll see tonight," said Xiao Chen.

"..." Yu Na couldn't help but laugh. "Why do I feel like you don't have good intentions?"

Xiao Chen brazenly asked back, "Is that the impression I give you?"

"Yes, it is," Yu Na silently answered in her heart.

...

After arriving at Huating One together, Yu Na took a shower first then sat at her desk to grade test papers.

When Xiao Chen finished showering and came out, he sent Qiao Rui a message: 【Not coming home tonight】

Qiao Rui: 【Got it】

Qiao Rui: 【I won't stay up late gaming anymore】

Qiao Rui:【I'm definitely going to study hard】

Xiao Chen also felt Qiao Rui was acting a bit strange but didn't ask further or believe his nonsense.

He just symbolically replied with two words: 【Go for it】

After replying to the message, he put his phone aside.

Xiao Chen got up and walked over behind Yu Na, leaning over and propping his chin on her shoulder. "Tired?"

Yu Na turned her head, and a kiss landed on his cheek. "Not tired at all."

Xiao Chen pulled over a chair and sat next to her, accompanying her as she finished grading the test papers.

Yu Na flipped to the last paper. As she read through them, her brows were tightly knitted.

The last test paper belonged to Jiang Yu.

It only had his name written. All the multiple choice questions had A circled, including the cloze test and reading comprehension.

He didn't even glance at B, C, or D. "Wow!" Xiao Chen was dumbfounded.

Yu Na despairingly leaned on his shoulder. "Great, just when Qiao Rui finally knows he has to study, here comes a second Qiao Rui."

Xiao Chen rarely spoke up for his cousin. "Qiao Rui wasn't this bad. At least he knew to choose the longest answer for the multiple choice questions with one long and three short answers. Your student is purely perfunctory."

Yu Na sighed. "Let's talk about this tomorrow."

She placed his test paper on top, stacking all the papers in one pile off to the side. Then she turned around and hugged Xiao Chen around the neck. "I'll indulge you a bit tonight."

Xiao Chen smiled. "Don't regret it."

Yu Na: ?

Ignoring her resistance, Xiao Chen carried Yu Na onto the bed, leaving one bedside lamp on. He leaned down to kiss her.

Their breaths mingled.

Xiao Chen nestled against her neck, breathing heavily, his voice low. "Baby..."

"Mm-hmm..."

"Say sweet words to me."

Yu Na thought for a bit, then hooked his shoulder and whispered gently, "I miss you."

Xiao Chen wasn't satisfied. "Add a 'want' after 'miss'."

Yu Na's mind was in chaos from his kisses. Without thinking, she blurted out, "I miss y—"

Before she could say "ou," she instantly realized.

Yu Na was furiously embarrassed and pinched his face. "You!!"

Xiao Chen chuckled, his shoulders shaking. "Silly girl."

...

The next day, Yu Na carried the test papers as Xiao Chen sent her to school.

During morning reading time, she handed out the English test papers.

Qiao Rui saw Xu Yi's test paper, the full score conspicuously sticking out.

"Damn... awesome."

Xu Yi didn't react much, asking him, "Convinced now?"

"Yup, sis, you're awesome."

There was more than one perfect score in the class since there was no listening or writing section on the weekly quiz. Yu Na drew a big smiling face on every full score test paper.

After handing out all the papers, she walked over to Jiang Yu and emotionlessly asked, "What's going on with you?"

Jiang Yu asked back blankly, "What do you mean what's going on?"

"Do I need to spell it out?"

The test paper was spread out on the desk. Yu Na pointed at his paper. "Out of the whole class, only you wrote like this. Do you not have any respect for the weekly quizzes?"

Faced with the confrontation, Jiang Yu was completely calm.

He raised his eyes. "Sorry, I don't understand your lectures."

"???"

At this remark, the classroom instantly went silent.

Everyone's gazes landed on the two of them.

Yu Na was also shocked.

Jiang Yu leisurely provoked her, "Your lessons sound very boring and illogical."

Sitting in the last row, Qiao Rui spoke coldly, impatiently warning Jiang Yu, "Hey, you better show some respect."

Jiang Yu glanced indifferently at Qiao Rui, ignoring him. His gaze shifted back to Yu Na as he shamelessly added, "I think you're not suited to being a teacher."
